# Onboarding Checklist

# Welcome to Elevation Advisor!

Before you dive into creating [automated proposals](https://elevationadvisor.com/proposal-wizard) or exploring [Profit Genie](https://support.elevationadvisor.com/en-us/article/what-is-profit-genie-19aids2/), this checklist will walk you through the essential setup steps to ensure your numbers are accurate, your pricing is profitable, and your business is ready to run at full speed.

Think of this as your **guided path to success**, each step builds the foundation for smarter decisions, better margins, and more confidence in every proposal you send. It only takes a little time to set up, but the payoff is huge.

And don’t forget that there is a “See How it Works” video at the top of every page. It should help you understand the page and what is being asked for

Let’s get you dialed in and ready to go!



### ✅ STEP 1: Complete the Profit Genie Wizard

Navigate to: Profit Genie

1. Enter company name
2. Add # of full-time and part-time field employees
3. Set workdays per week and daily work hours
4. Choose your construction season dates
5. Enter # of observed holidays

|| ℹ️ **Why it matters:** This determines how many working days are available to cover your annual overhead, forming the foundation of your entire financial model.



### ✅ STEP 2: Add Equipment

Navigate to: Catalog > Equipment

1. Set fuel prices (unleaded, diesel, off-road)
2. Create equipment categories
3. Add your owned or financed equipment
4. Mark items as overhead if not billed per job

| 💡 Be conservative with “days used per year” to ensure cost recovery.



### ✅ STEP 3: Add Labor

Go to: Profit Genie > Labor

1. Enter employer taxes (get from your payroll provider)
2. Add field employees with hourly rates
3. Add overhead employees (admins, managers, and yourself if applicable)

||| ⚠️ Reminder: Owner-operators should be entered in both field and overhead if you do both types of work.



### ✅ STEP 4: Add Overhead Expenses

Go to: Profit Genie > Expenses

1. Enter monthly or annual expenses (rent, insurance, fuel, etc.)
2. Add a “Miscellaneous” expense (5–10% of overhead)

### ✅ STEP 5: Meet with Elevation Advisor

During this meeting, we’ll review your data together to ensure everything is accurate, complete, and aligned with your business goals.

We’ll help you catch any major issues early and make sure your Profit Genie setup is ready to power confident, profitable proposals.

Go to: Profit Genie > Dashboard

1. Review your calculated hourly/crew rate
2. Enter how much you want in your account at the end of the year
3. Adjust “Unbilled Labor” to see financial impact
4. Lock in your targets for consistent pricing

| 💡 Small adjustments (like crew size or unbilled time) can dramatically change your profit.

Go to: Catalog > Materials

1. Enter and categorize your materials
